vs Peter Manfredo Jr.
03.07.2005
Once again I'm fighting an undefeated boxer. However,
this time I picked him. hehehe I have always step up to the occasion,
and this wasn't the exception. Out of my previous 12 fights I was the
underdog on more than 8 of them.
In the first round I threw a lot
of punches. I wanted to win the first round because that way he had to
catch up. I gave him my best combinations downstairs and up. In the
second round he hit me on the top of my head with a very strong hook
which wobbled me. All I could do was cover up and wait till I felt
better to continue fighting. Going into the third round we were 1 and
1. In the third round I began to box him, instead of brawling. I used
my jab more to keep him at bay. It was a close round but I believed my
boxing abilities won it. In the fourth, he began putting more pressure,
but as he was getting more tired I was gaining confidence. Even though
my father was not in my corner I tried to listen to him as much as I
could. Also, Jeremy Williams (my corner coach), was great at pumping me
up in between rounds. Going into the 5th round I knew the fight was
close, I felt that it could have been 2 rounds to 2. So who ever won
that fifth round was taking the victory. I went out there to leave it
all in the ring. That last round was back and forth none stop. At the
end of the night I took a unanimous win which took me to the second
round of The Contender tournament.
